A regional court in Olomouc, Czech Republic, has acquitted 13 individuals and two companies – FAU and Verami International Company – of charges related to alleged tax evasion amounting to approximately 250 million Czech crowns (roughly equivalent to $11 million USD). The prosecution argued the companies used a series of trading companies to avoid paying taxes on fuel purchases through complex transactions. However, the judge, Eduard Ondrášek, stated that while the act occurred, the prosecution failed to prove the defendants’ involvement. Throughout the proceedings, all accused consistently denied any wrongdoing. The case centered on accusations of a scheme to defraud the state through intricate fuel trading practices. The acquittal represents a significant outcome in the long-running investigation.
