Conservationists in the Czech Republic are working to restore traditional meadows, which remain remarkably diverse ecosystems despite shrinking numbers. They are focusing on collecting seeds from common wildflowers and grasses to re-sow degraded areas. A recent collection effort took place on a meadow near Slatnice and Čelechovice on the Haná region of Prostějov. The collected seed mixture will remain local, with a nearby farmer expressing interest in using it for reseeding his land. This initiative aims to return diversity and insect life to the landscape, combatting biodiversity loss through practical restoration. The project emphasizes the importance of even seemingly simple meadows as valuable habitats.
