Czech cities are increasingly implementing restrictions on the placement of package delivery lockers, seeking to manage their proliferation. Most regional capitals are attempting various forms of regulation, responding to concerns about urban space and aesthetics. A recent amendment to the building code initially aimed to introduce nationwide rules for these lockers; however, lawmakers ultimately removed these provisions. Operators of the lockers state they are attempting to cooperate with local government demands. Currently, approximately 17,000 package lockers are in operation throughout the Czech Republic, and operators anticipate a potential 30% increase in numbers despite the tightening restrictions. The rejection of national rules leaves local authorities with primary control over locker placement.
