An investigation by Fast Check revealed significant unpaid toll debts accumulated by Costa Rican lawmakers. The audit focused on 155 members of parliament and identified three with outstanding TAG (toll system) debts exceeding one million colones. Tatiana Urrutia and Carolina Tello, both from the Frente Amplio party, and Erich Grohs from the Partido Nacional Libertario, were found to owe $5 million, $4.3 million, and almost $3 million respectively. Following inquiries from Fast Check, Tello and Urrutia fully settled their debts. Urrutia stated she was unaware of the debts prior to the investigation. The findings raise questions about financial responsibility and transparency among Costa Rican legislators.
