A broad coalition of parties in Copenhagen is open to exploring a reduction in the number of waste bins used in residential areas. Currently, residents often have up to ten different bins for various recycling streams. The aim is to simplify waste sorting for citizens and potentially improve recycling rates. While many parties are receptive to the idea, the Red-Green Alliance (Enhedslisten) and the Radical Liberal Party (Radikale) have expressed opposition. Further investigation will be conducted to assess the feasibility and impact of such a change. The proposal seeks to address complexities in the current system and make recycling more accessible for Copenhageners. No concrete decisions have been made at this stage, only an agreement to explore the possibility.
