A new study from the University of the Andes’ Democracy Observatory reveals declining public trust in Colombia’s healthcare system. The research indicates that 64.6% of citizens currently express confidence in their “EPS” (Entidades Promotoras de Salud – Health Promoting Entities), the organizations responsible for managing healthcare access. However, a significant 12.8% of individuals affiliated with EPS providers report a lack of trust in their specific provider. The study highlights a growing concern regarding the quality and reliability of healthcare services within the country. These findings suggest potential challenges for the Colombian healthcare system as it strives to maintain public confidence and ensure equitable access to care. Further analysis is needed to determine the root causes of this erosion of trust and to develop strategies for improvement. The study provides valuable insights into citizen perceptions of a critical public service.
