A leading Chinese foreign policy expert, Da Wei, asserts the United States is intentionally relinquishing its global leadership position. However, Da argues China has no desire to assume that role, nor does it possess the capability to do so. Instead, Beijing is focused on developing a different international approach based on principles of sovereign equality and multilateral cooperation. Da believes America’s dominance in global institutions is waning. He suggests China’s ambitions lie in establishing an alternative world order, not replicating the US-led system. This perspective challenges assumptions about an automatic power transition as the US influence diminishes. Da presented these views during a public seminar, offering insight into China’s strategic outlook.
