Chile’s Museum of Memory and Human Rights has received 23 previously unpublished photographs documenting the 1973 bombing of La Moneda Palace. The images were released by The Union Films and CIPER, a Chilean investigative journalism organization. These photographs offer a new visual record of the coup d'état that ousted President Salvador Allende. The photos depict the aerial bombardment and its immediate aftermath, providing crucial historical documentation. Their delivery to the Museum ensures their preservation and public accessibility for research and remembrance. This acquisition significantly expands the museum’s collection relating to this pivotal moment in Chilean history. The release of these images contributes to a continuing effort to uncover and share comprehensive documentation of the coup and its legacy.
