Poultry farmers in Central Java are protesting the low prices offered for eggs by government nutrition fulfillment units (SPPG). The head of the Central Java Prosperous Poultry Farmers Cooperative (KPUS), Suwardi, criticized the SPPG for purchasing eggs below the government’s reference price (HAP). This discrepancy is causing financial hardship for local poultry farmers. The SPPG program aims to provide nutritional support, but farmers argue the current pricing structure undermines their livelihoods. The farmers are seeking a review of the procurement policies to ensure fair compensation. This issue highlights a conflict between government nutritional goals and the economic sustainability of local agricultural producers.
