This deal establishes an annual average salary of $18.8 million, making him the highest-paid player in NHL history. Despite the lucrative contract, the Sharks also provided Celebrini with a discount. He arrives in San Jose following a remarkable season, recording 115 points. Celebrini also holds the Sharks’ franchise record for most productive season ever. Only two junior hockey players have previously secured higher NHL contracts.
