A decade after a contentious independence referendum and subsequent clashes, Catalonia's political aspirations for separation remain unfulfilled. However, a new generation is emerging, choosing a different path to advance the cause. Rather than focusing on traditional political strategies, these young Catalans are prioritizing the preservation and promotion of their cultural identity. ENTR recently visited Catalonia and spoke with these individuals who believe culture is key to maintaining their distinct heritage. This approach represents a shift in the independence movement, emphasizing grassroots efforts and cultural revitalization. They aim to rekindle the spirit of Catalan nationalism through artistic expression, language preservation, and community building, hoping to lay the groundwork for future political change. Their efforts signal a continued, if evolved, desire for self-determination in the region.
