A Canadian police officer was fatally shot in Toronto during a raid connected to a March shooting at the U.S. consulate. The officer, 43, was wounded in an exchange of gunfire at an apartment building and later died in hospital. The operation aimed to apprehend suspects linked to the consulate shooting, which authorities previously described as a national security incident. One suspect was arrested after being injured in the shootout, while a 19-year-old suspect, considered armed and dangerous, remains at large and is being urged to surrender. The March shooting at the consulate, which caused property damage but no injuries, occurred amid heightened tensions related to the conflict between the U.S., Israel and Iran. Prior to the consulate incident, shots were also fired near two synagogues in the Toronto area.
