A Canadian man, Curtis Wright, has returned to Edmonton after being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for nine months. Wright, originally from Edmonton but a long-time resident of the U.S., was detained in Texas following a business trip to Mexico last November. He is now sharing his experiences regarding the conditions and difficulties he encountered while in ICE custody. The circumstances surrounding his detention remain unclear, however, he spent nearly a year navigating the U.S. immigration system while incarcerated. Wright hopes sharing his story will raise awareness about the challenges faced by individuals within ICE detention centres. His case highlights potential issues faced by Canadians living and traveling in the United States.
