Over 40 civil society organizations convened in Buea, Cameroon, to enhance their strategies for preventing and addressing gender-based violence (GBV). The workshops, co-led by the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family (MINPROFF) and the UNFPA, focused on improving intervention effectiveness and survivor protection in the Northwest and Southwest regions, areas experiencing ongoing crises. Participants aimed to standardize procedures, improve trauma-informed care, and bolster institutional accountability, including zero tolerance policies for sexual exploitation and abuse. A key outcome is the development of a reliable database on GBV to inform public policy and resource allocation. The initiative also seeks to integrate organizations into the global GBV Area of Responsibility platform for improved coordination and data collection. Ultimately, the goal is to reduce barriers to accessing services for vulnerable populations affected by violence.
