Cameroon is preparing to host the 51st session of the Assembly of Parliamentarians of Francophonie (APF) in two weeks, anticipating nearly 400 participants. The event, organized by members of both chambers of the Cameroonian parliament, will draw delegates from Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, including parliamentary chamber leaders and youth representatives. Key attendees include Amelia Lakrafi, Delegate General of the APF, and Louise Mouchoukiwabo, Secretary General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie. Discussions will center around two main themes: multilateralism and state sovereignty, and the role of Francophone parliaments in addressing climate change and global development. Organizers have secured accommodations in eight hotels and established 17 sub-committees to manage logistical aspects of the event. Preparations have been underway since January 2026, led by MP Hilarion Etong, president of the Cameroonian section of the APF. The assembly aims to foster collaboration among Francophone nations on critical global issues.
