Yaoundé, Cameroon hosted a commemoration for the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial on June 21, 2026, bringing together stakeholders in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The event, organized by the Regional Technical Group for the Fight against HIV/AIDS and CCAF+, and supported by partners, aimed to remember those lost to AIDS, support those living with HIV, and combat stigma. Cameroon’s National AIDS Control Committee (CNLS) highlighted the nation’s progress in combating the disease through collaborative efforts with government, technical partners, civil society, and community organizations. The commemoration focused on remembrance, solidarity, and hope, reaffirming commitment to equitable access to prevention, testing, treatment, and care services. Participants emphasized the continued need to work towards ending AIDS as a public health threat. The ceremony concluded with a symbolic candle-lighting to honor the victims of AIDS.
