Cameroon is accelerating preparations to host the 51st Assembly of the Francophonie (APF) in Yaoundé from July 7-9, 2026. The event is expected to draw hundreds of parliamentarians from across five continents, transforming the capital into a hub for francophone dialogue. Discussions between the President of the Cameroonian National Assembly, Théodore Datouo, and the Cameroonian Ambassador to France, André Magnus Ekoumou, focused on the progress of arrangements. The embassy is streamlining visa processes for attending delegations. The assembly presents an opportunity for Cameroon to showcase its hospitality and commitment to francophone values. Key objectives include electing a new secretary-general and fostering productive discussions on challenges facing the francophone world, with a focus on strengthening parliamentary democracy.
