Cameroon is finalizing preparations to host the 51st plenary session of the Assembly of Parliamentarians of Francophonie (APF) in Yaoundé from July 7-12, 2026. A strategic meeting was held on June 22nd at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate efforts between the government and the APF, ensuring a successful international event. The meeting, co-chaired by Foreign Minister Lejeune Mbella Mbella and APF President Hilarion Etong, focused on logistical arrangements and the broader diplomatic implications of hosting the session. Discussions highlighted the political, economic, and cultural significance of the event for Cameroon. The session will gather parliamentarians from Francophone countries to debate “Multilateralism and Sovereignty of States” and “Climate Change, Development and Francophone Solidarity.” These discussions aim to address contemporary challenges facing Francophone nations and their parliamentary institutions.
