Cameroonian authorities have arrested 45 individuals suspected of criminal activity in Tongo Gandima, Ngoura. The arrests were made during “Operation Tentacles” conducted by the Bertoua gendarmerie on August 15, 2026. During the operation, police seized a substantial amount of cannabis, prohibited medications, including Tramadol, two hunting rifles, 20 daggers, six motorcycles of questionable origin, and 35 cartons of counterfeit whisky. The operation aims to reduce insecurity and bolster safety in the region as the school year approaches. Authorities hope to create a secure environment for students, parents, and teachers during this financially demanding time. This operation is part of the national gendarmerie’s ongoing efforts to protect citizens and combat all forms of crime.
