The Front for Change in Cameroon (FCC) has officially announced the joining of Professor Maurice Kamto, following his recent resignation as head of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC). The announcement, dated October 1, 2026, and signed by FCC national president Deputy Jean-Michel Nintcheu, cites “antidemocratic drifts, corridor intrigues, and cynical political maneuvers” as the reason for Kamto’s “unjust” removal from the MRC. The FCC portrays Kamto as a distinguished jurist, internationally renowned intellectual, and seasoned statesman, praising his commitment to the Cameroonian people. The party believes Kamto’s addition will revitalize their political platform and intends to present him as their standard-bearer in future major elections crucial to Cameroon’s destiny. Legalized on January 7, 1992, by decision N°030/D/MINAT, the FCC positions itself as a credible alternative and calls for unity ahead of the presidential election on October 12, 2026. This alliance is expected to significantly impact the opposition landscape in Cameroon.
