Cameroon’s Minister of Public Health met with the IOM Chief of Mission to discuss integrating human mobility into national health policies. The meeting focused on bolstering health security at borders and improving epidemic response capabilities amidst significant migration flows in the region. Discussions highlighted the increasing health challenges posed by climate change-induced migration, including droughts, floods, and food insecurity. Both parties aim to anticipate and mitigate these impacts to maintain healthcare access. A key initiative involves leveraging the expertise of Cameroonian health professionals in the diaspora to strengthen the national health system. Ultimately, the goal is to create a more resilient and inclusive healthcare system capable of responding to the health needs of both residents and mobile populations.
