A traffic accident in Douala, Cameroon, during the night of June 24-25, 2026, resulted in multiple fatalities, with local media reporting at least four deaths, including three women. The incident occurred at the Cimetière Kotto area of Bonaberi, involving a truck carrying a container that overturned, impacting other vehicles. Witnesses state the container detached from the truck, causing significant damage. In addition to the deaths, several people were injured and multiple vehicles were damaged. This tragedy echoes a similar incident in Yaoundé in January 2025, also involving a detached container. Following the crash, a member of parliament, Nourane Fotsing, criticized public negligence and urged the government to take action, particularly during the school holiday period, citing inadequate container securing practices and poor road conditions as contributing factors.
