Cameroon is developing a national health security action plan for 2027-2031, following a five-day workshop in Mbalmayo concluding June 19th. The workshop brought together government administrations, civil society organizations, and technical and financial partners to improve the country’s health security performance and emergency response capabilities. Discussions focused on addressing gaps in prevention, detection, and response to public health emergencies, based on the “One Health” approach. Participants reviewed 19 key areas and provided input for the plan, centering on the pillars of prevention, detection, and response. Key recommendations include establishing a national platform for International Health Regulations (IHR) compliance, strengthening inter-sectoral collaboration, and improving risk communication. The plan also aims to enhance community engagement and optimize monitoring of its implementation.
