Cameroon’s National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC) is conducting a three-day seminar in Bamenda to support the 35 municipal councils of the Northwest region in their digital transformation. The event, the 7th of its kind organized by ANTIC, focuses on equipping municipal IT administrators with 21st-century digital skills. The seminar’s theme, "Local Development in the Age of Digital Transformation,” underscores the critical role of technology in modernizing public institutions and improving service delivery. ANTIC’s Director General, Pr Ebot Ebot Enaw, emphasized that adopting Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is no longer optional for local governments, but essential for transparency and citizen engagement. The training addresses challenges like cybersecurity threats and data privacy concerns inherent in digitalization. Currently, ANTIC has assisted 64% of Cameroonian municipalities with capacity building, with 17 out of 35 Northwest councils possessing websites.
