Cameroon is positioning itself as a key player in regional digital sovereignty with the CAB-CORRIDOR project, presented in Yaoundé on September 30, 2026. The initiative, introduced by the Director General of Cameroon’s National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC), Pr. Ebot Ebot Enaw, and representatives from Gabon’s SPIN Gabon and the Cameroon Internet Exchange Point (CAMIX), aims to establish a land-based digital corridor in Central Africa. This corridor will link existing fibre optic networks, providing alternative routes for data transmission independent of vulnerable submarine cables. Key infrastructure around Kribi and Douala, where international cables land, will serve as major delivery points for the corridor. CAMTEL is considering joining the economic interest group responsible for the project, which will commercialize shared network capacity and distribute revenue. The project intends to bolster digital confidence, data protection, and overall network resilience across the region.
