Bulgarians have a limited time remaining to exchange Bulgarian Leva for Euros without incurring fees. The current period allowing commission-free exchange in banks and Bulgarian Post offices ends in late June. After this deadline, financial institutions will be permitted to charge fees for the service. The initiative was implemented to facilitate the transition following Bulgaria’s adoption of the Euro on January 1st, 2024. While banks can now charge fees, specific details regarding the amount of those fees have not been widely publicized. Citizens are encouraged to exchange their Leva before the end of June to avoid potential costs. This temporary measure aimed to ease the financial impact of the currency switch for the public.
