Brno’s city center was vibrant with traditional costumes as representatives from 23 districts gathered for the first city-wide “hody” (feast). Participants celebrated on Náměstí Svobody, performing the Moravská beseda dance in the afternoon sun. The event marked the culmination of years dedicated to reviving Brno’s folk traditions and costumes, encompassing surrounding communities from Bosonoh to Žabovřesky. Simultaneously, the 72nd annual Chodské slavnosti, a long-standing Czech folklore festival, drew crowds to Domažlice. Hundreds of people across generations participated, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region. Both events highlighted a renewed interest in preserving and celebrating Czech folk culture. The gatherings provided a colorful display of regional identity and community spirit.
