Bratislava will host its annual Dúhový Pride march on July 18th, focusing on the theme of courage. Organizers emphasize that for many LGBTQ+ individuals in Slovakia, simply living openly and visibly requires significant bravery in the current social climate. The event, beginning at noon in Námestie slobody, aims to foster a sense of community and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Discussions reveal that many queer individuals are forced to practice constant vigilance, avoiding certain streets at night due to safety concerns. This year’s Pride seeks to address these realities and promote a more inclusive society. Lucia Horváthová, the association’s chairwoman, underscored the importance of openly discussing LGBTQ+ lives.
