Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Chairman Denis Bećirović has formally appealed to the Constitutional Court over recent amendments to the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska. These amendments criminalize and prohibit the use of symbols associated with the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bećirović’s request seeks a constitutional review of the legality of the RS legislation. He argues that the law oversteps jurisdictional boundaries, as Republika Srpska lacks the authority to legislate on matters concerning the symbols of the state army. The move signals a direct challenge to the RS entity's attempt to restrict wartime symbols. This action aims to protect historical memory and potentially prevent further division within Bosnia and Herzegovina. The case will now be considered by the Constitutional Court.
