Ahmed al Ahmed, celebrated for disarming a gunman during the 2023 Bondi Beach shooting that killed 15 people, has pleaded not guilty to charges of common assault and domestic intimidation against his father. The 44-year-old fruit seller gained international recognition for his bravery during the December attack, intervening and seizing a weapon from one of the assailants. He appeared in Bankstown court on Wednesday, where his lawyer emphasized the presumption of innocence and the personal difficulty of the situation. The case stems from a family dispute, details of which have not been publicly released. A hearing is scheduled for August 12. Separately, Ahmed’s brothers recently appeared in court facing allegations of attempting to obtain funds from a $1 million fundraiser established for him following the Bondi Beach incident.
