The Secretary Utama (Sestama) of the Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana (BNPB) – the National Disaster Management Agency – Rustian, was apprehended during a Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK) – Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission – sting operation on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Following questioning at the Gedung Merah Putih – the KPK’s headquarters – Rustian was released. The KPK has stated that, as of now, no unlawful acts have been identified. He has not been named a suspect in the case. The investigation remains ongoing, however, focusing on the circumstances surrounding his detention during the OTT. Further details are expected to be released as the KPK continues its work.
