A simulation exercise was conducted in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, to assess the healthcare system’s readiness to respond to emergencies involving reproductive health and gender-based violence. The drill took place at the Disaster Medicine Service base of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic. The exercise focused on preparing for situations where these specific health needs arise during broader crisis events. It aimed to test the coordination and effectiveness of the response mechanisms in place. The simulation evaluated how healthcare providers would address reproductive health concerns and support victims of gender violence within an emergency context. This initiative highlights a growing recognition of the importance of integrating these often-overlooked aspects into disaster preparedness plans. The drill’s findings will likely inform improvements to existing protocols and resource allocation.
