Bratislava’s Milan Rastislav Štefánik Airport experienced four instances of aircraft returning to the airport after takeoff between May 15th and June 20th. All four returns were precautionary measures initiated by pilots due to safety concerns. Two of the incidents involved bird strikes, where aircraft collided with birds during ascent. The remaining two returns were prompted by lightning strikes to the aircraft. Airport officials confirmed no passengers were injured in any of the events. These incidents highlight potential hazards faced during air travel and the importance of pilot response. The airport is reviewing procedures to mitigate risks from wildlife and weather events.
