The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) had 1.847 million residents of working age in the first quarter of this year. Approximately 49.4 percent of this population, or 913,000 individuals, were considered economically active. However, a slightly larger portion – 50.6 percent, totaling 934,000 people – were outside the labor force. Employment figures reached 798,000, representing 43.2 percent of the working-age population. This leaves 115,000 individuals actively seeking work but currently unemployed. The data highlights a significant portion of the population not participating in the workforce, presenting potential economic challenges for the region. These figures were recently reported by Sarajevo Times.
