A delegation from Bhutan’s banking and financial sectors visited Mongolia from June 23-27 to study its advancements in green finance. Mongolia is the first country in Central and East Asia to fully implement a “Green Taxonomy” within its banking sector. Furthermore, Mongolian commercial banks have achieved accreditation to directly receive funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF), setting a global benchmark. Bhutan aims to develop a climate-resilient banking sector and obtain GCF accreditation by examining Mongolia's practices. The delegation met with representatives from the Mongolian Banking Association, the Mongolian Sustainable Finance Association, several commercial banks, the Bank of Mongolia, and the Banking and Finance Academy. Discussions focused on voluntary bank collaborations for eco-friendly projects, experiences securing international funding, and gender-based financing initiatives within the banking system.
