Berlin is implementing a pilot program to improve voting access for its homeless population. Traditionally, individuals experiencing homelessness face significant barriers to exercising their right to vote, including lack of address verification and transportation. The initiative brings polling stations directly to day centers frequented by those without fixed addresses. This allows homeless citizens to participate in the upcoming election without the usual logistical hurdles. The project aims to increase political inclusion and ensure equal democratic participation for all residents. Organizers hope this innovative approach will serve as a model for other cities seeking to address similar challenges. This is the first time such a measure has been implemented in Berlin.
