Authorities in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, have responded to 24 reported bear sightings this year, with two bears currently secured in safety enclosures. The head of the Ulaanbaatar Environmental Department, N.Monkhbayar, reported the increasing frequency of these incidents. A recent issue occurred near Uliastai’s mouth in the 35th khoroo (district) of Bayanzurkh District (БЗД), an area with 56 households, many traditional ger (yurt) homes lacking secure fencing, resulting in a bear entering a ger. Search operations, utilizing heat-sensing drones due to recent rainfall, are ongoing. The wooded area north of Uliastai in the 35th khoroo of Bayanzurkh District connects to the 20th khoroo of Songinokhairkhan District (СБД) near Khadad villa, and extends to the 21st khoroo of Sukhbaatar District (СХД). Residents and visitors in recreational areas are advised to exercise extreme caution.
