Environmental group Greenpeace, working with local campaigners Ébresztő, Komárom!, has identified the solvent N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) in a water reservoir located within the Komárom industrial park in Hungary. NMP is classified as harmful to foetal development. The solvent is reportedly used in battery manufacturing processes at the park. The discovery was announced by Greenpeace on Wednesday, raising concerns about potential health impacts. The group stated that Ébresztő, Komárom! initially contacted them regarding the issue. Further investigation is needed to determine the extent of the contamination and potential risks to the surrounding population.
