The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has updated its watchlist of areas of concern for the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). One new area has been designated as a “Red category” location, indicating significant security risks. Simultaneously, Comelec downgraded two previously “Red” listed areas, suggesting improved conditions. Currently, a total of 27 areas within BARMM remain under heightened monitoring. These classifications are based on factors influencing election integrity and potential for violence. The changes reflect ongoing assessments of the security situation as the polls approach. Comelec will continue monitoring these areas closely to ensure a peaceful and credible election.
