Bangladesh is actively working to reduce its reliance on garment exports to New Zealand and expand into new sectors. The country aims to increase trade in pharmaceuticals, information technology, jute, leather, and sustainable textiles. This initiative seeks to broaden the export basket and create a more balanced trade relationship. Simultaneously, Bangladesh is attempting to attract New Zealand investment in agricultural technology, dairy processing, green energy, and cold-chain sectors. Efforts include facilitating direct connections between businesses of both nations, organizing virtual business-to-business meetings, and governmental support. This strategic shift intends to foster mutually beneficial economic opportunities and strengthen bilateral ties beyond the current apparel dominance.
