Bangladesh’s Deputy Speaker, Barrister Kaiser Kamal, has appealed for increased Chinese investment and collaboration in several key sectors. During a visit to Kunming, China, Kamal requested support for the construction of the Teesta Barrage, a crucial water management project. He also sought Chinese investment in direct road links between Kunming and Chittagong, as well as in healthcare, education, tourism, infrastructure, and agriculture. The appeal was made to the Governor of Yunnan Province following a visit to the Second Hospital of Kunming Medical University. This outreach signals Bangladesh’s desire to strengthen economic ties with China and leverage Chinese expertise for its development goals. The Parliament Secretariat confirmed the details of the Deputy Speaker’s requests. Further details regarding potential agreements were not immediately available.
