Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Tareq Rahman officially inaugurated three villages as ‘SDG Villages’ on Monday, August 10th. The virtual inauguration ceremony took place from the China-Bangladesh Friendship Conference Center in Dhaka’s Agargaon. Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was also present at the event. The selected villages are Mitingachari in Rangamati’s Kaptai, Pakhali in Dakop Upazila of Khulna, and a location in Dinajpur. This initiative marks a step forward in Bangladesh’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals at the grassroots level. The ‘SDG Villages’ are expected to serve as models for sustainable and inclusive development across the country, improving living standards and fostering localized solutions to global challenges.
