Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad has criticized the recently announced national budget, stating it does not reflect the aspirations of recent public protests in July. Azad made the remarks at a protest rally held near the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Thursday evening. He characterized the proposed budget as heavily reliant on loans, highlighting a significant deficit of approximately 250,000 crore taka. Details regarding how this deficit will be managed were not adequately addressed, according to Azad. The opposition figure argued the budget fails to address key public concerns raised during the July demonstrations. He further suggested the budget prioritizes debt over addressing the needs of the citizenry. The criticism underscores growing discontent with the government’s economic policies.
