Bangladesh’s Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has announced the government is actively working to create a country free of gambling and narcotics. He stated that an amendment to the narcotics control law will be presented in parliament within the next few days. The announcement was made during the observance of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Dhaka on Friday. Minister Ahmed emphasized that existing legislation is inadequate for effectively controlling drug use in the modern era, necessitating updates. He indicated a need for more comprehensive strategies to address the issue. The amendment aims to bolster efforts to curb drug abuse and illegal trafficking within Bangladesh. The government views this legal reform as a crucial step in achieving its goal of a drug-free nation.
