Dutch construction company BAM has acquired A. Hak, a specialist in underground infrastructure, for €504 million. A. Hak, based in Geldermalsen, is a major player in the installation of district heating networks, long-distance pipelines, and onshore energy connections, operating primarily in the Netherlands, Belgium, and the United Kingdom. Last year, A. Hak reported a profit of nearly €18 million. BAM leadership anticipates the acquisition will strengthen their position as the largest construction company in the Netherlands and improve project reach across the country, as well as capitalize on growth opportunities in the United Kingdom's energy infrastructure projects. A. Hak will continue to operate under its current name for the time being, and the impact on its 900 employees remains unclear. The acquisition comes as the building sector faces challenges but sees consistent work for large contractors like BAM.
