Estonian authorities have approved the route for a transmission line connecting a planned offshore wind farm in the Gulf of Riga to the national grid. The designated corridor will begin as an undersea cable within the Gulf, minimizing environmental impact in the initial phase. Upon reaching the coast, the line will transition to an overhead power line near Arumetsa. This overhead section will then extend to the Kilingi-Nõmme substation, a key connection point for distributing the generated electricity. The approved route is part of a broader state special plan designed to facilitate renewable energy infrastructure development. This decision marks a significant step forward for the Gulf of Riga wind farm project and Estonia’s renewable energy goals. The project aims to boost energy independence and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
