The European Commission (EK) has informed the anti-corruption organization Transparency International (TI) that Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) is in a conflict of interest, and measures taken by him do not sufficiently address this issue. The response came after TI submitted a request in May regarding the matter. The content of the letter, originating from the EK’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG Agri), was released by the organization on Wednesday. This confirms concerns raised about Babiš’s business dealings and potential influence on government decisions. The EK’s assessment indicates ongoing issues surrounding Babiš’s involvement with business interests while holding public office. The findings are expected to fuel further debate within the Czech Republic regarding ethical conduct in politics.
