Playwright and director Rébecca Chaillon will present "La Parabole du Seum" (The Parable of Seum) at the 2026 Avignon Festival. The work is described as a new artistic and dystopian manifesto. Chaillon's creative process prioritizes action as the source of thought and theory as a guide to action. “La Parabole du Seum” directly confronts issues of racial identity, gender, and sexuality. The play specifically aims to challenge and protest against violence rooted in grossophobia, queerphobia, transphobia, and racism. Through her work, Chaillon also explores themes of desire, nourishment and the body, referencing ideas of cannibalistic love.
