Attacks against police officers are increasing throughout Bangladesh, with 361 reported injuries in the first seven months of this year. These incidents range from obstructing arrests and freeing suspects to direct assaults by criminals and terrorists. Most recently, Sub-Inspector Altaf Hossain of the Special Branch was killed due to repeated attacks by terrorists in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka. According to Police Headquarters, the escalating violence has become a significant concern. The attacks are hindering law enforcement duties nationwide. Authorities report a surge in interference during suspect apprehensions, and attempts to forcibly release detainees. This trend highlights a growing challenge to maintaining law and order across the country.
