A recent study by the Social Affairs Sector – Family and Childhood Affairs Department of the Arab League’s General Secretariat warns of attempts to redefine the concept of family in Arab countries. The study, titled “Current Threats to Family Constants in the Arab Region and Ways to Address Them at the National and Regional Levels,” highlights efforts by LGBTQ+ advocates to impose an alternative meaning of family. It indicates that numerous organizations dedicated to defending rights are actively promoting “gender diversity,” which the study views as a challenge to traditional family structures. The research focuses on current threats to established family norms within the Arab region and proposes strategies for addressing these challenges both nationally and regionally. The Arab League expresses concern over the potential impact of these ideologies on Arab societies and advocates for safeguarding traditional family values. The study suggests a coordinated response to counter these perceived threats.
